Open Evening Fun

Thursday was the first of two Open Evenings for pupils currently in Year 6 at Primary school. It was great to see that the Parish Hall was almost full as prospective parents and students gathered for refreshments before listening to Principal Kelly's welcome and talk.  As we believe it is better to show than tell they were soon guided to the classrooms to meet the teaching staff and some of our students and parents.
In the classrooms prospective students got to see the teachers in action and experience learning at Route 39 in a typically hands-on way.
They grappled with musical instruments with the aid of some of our talented students, and played some games in Spanish.
The science lab was a source of great interest as the team had set up some simple fun experiments.
Others were keen to have a go at some sporting challenges and find out what will be on offer at the new site.

Everyone was hugely positive and keen to have a go at what was on offer. The pupils were very excited by the Extra-Curricular groups and lack of homework especially, and parents were particularly engaged wih the small learning groups and the different learning environment which we offer.

The next Open Evening will be on Monday 9th October at 5.30-7.30 at the current site. We are looking forward to seeing some new faces, and welcoming back some of the last attendees who said that they had enjoyed such a good time they were coming back for the second evening too!
