On Thursday 17th November, Bideford Rotary Club invited staff and students from Route 39 to talk at their luncheon meeting.
Mrs Clawley and Locryn took to the stage to talk to the group about the Route 39 kit car project. They discussed the process so far as well as the many plans for the future. Locryn spoke enthusiastically about the engineering aspects as well as explaining the marketing aspects of corresponding with numerous companies to secure sponsorship or equipment.
Mr Kelly was joined by Alec who spoke with genuine passion about how Project Based Learning helps students see links between taught subjects and real world implementation through a variety of careers. Alec talked in detail about one particular project and explained the importance of having Authentic Audiences who come in to support or judge projects.
Both students received rapturous rounds of applause.
Rotary Club President Robin Croslegh stated that they have not previously had students of this age who could publicly talk so confidently without the use of notes! Well done Alec and Locryn!
