"My child is really enjoying the school lunches, and I am very impressed with the variety of healthy choices available and with the eco-friendly ethos." David Landy, Parent
Andy Hudson is a local caterer who is providing lunches for the Academy.
Andy has worked in catering for 30 years, has advanced qualifications in cookery and food hygiene, and has attended nutrition and special dietary courses. Using this experience, he aims to support the students' well-being during their time at the Academy.
Over the year, Andy will be working closely with the school to incorporate the Academy ethos into the catering. Lunchtimes will include some advice, information, quiz notes and questions for a bit of food fun and education.
The students are currently offered a selection of freshly prepared packed lunch options which they choose weekly to create their own individual meal. It is planned that hot meals may be provided in the winter. The choice is varied, interesting, healthy and realistic to student preferences but also adheres to the government school food standards. Low fat yoghurt /mayonnaise and spread are used and the dessert recipes have a lower sugar content.
Environmental care also drives the ethos. Andy uses eco-friendly washing up liquid, dishwasher detergent and biodegradable cling film. He composts waste and recycles. Pole and line caught tuna is used whenever possible.
Parents and students should not hestitate to contact Andy with any queries or suggestions. Please send any communication via Business Manager, Claire Gover email@example.com.
Lunch costs are £2.50 per meal.
