Permanent Site at Steart Farm

This is some recent drone footage of our permanent premises at Steart Farm, Bucks Cross.

The site has been chosen for very important reasons:

  • It is easily accessible from the A39.
  • The topography of the site offers the opportunity to limit the visual impact of the development.
  • The surrounding natural environment has the potential to be an incredible resource for learning.

Explaining the Site Plan

The school and car parks are located at the top of the picture, at the back of the site closest to the road (A39).

The school building will be set into the hillside, clad in earthy colours and screened by trees.

The broadleaf woodland of the perimetre will be preserved.

The old farmhouse and kitchen gardens will be preserved and used for school and community education.

The site will be landscaped for outdoor learning. Planting will increase the site's biodiversity and enhance its ecological value.

Students Design Nature Reserve

The students of Route 39 Academy have had the opportunity to input. They have taken part in workshops with the architects, Aedas. Two student designs, including a nature reserve and hide, have been chosen to be developed by the architects and landscapers. Click for more on this.
